Windows 10 blocks downloads and the printer

Windows Attachment Manager uses the IAttachmentExecute application programming interface API to find the file type, the file association, and to determine the most appropriate action to take. When you download files and save them on your disk, Windows adds specific metadata to these files. These metadata are considered to be attachments.

When Windows adds metadata to the download files as an attachment, this is known as Zone Information. Now, the Zone Information is where the root of the matter lies. When File Explorer opens a file, it reads the attached Zone information stored in the same location and checks to see if the file came from an unknown source or not. If Windows finds that the file is unrecognized or came from unknown sources, it prevents you from opening it.

Windows SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk. If you wish to manually open a blocked file, right-click on the downloaded file and then select Properties. But, imagine you have to do this every time you download a file—that can be annoying and time-consuming. If you often download files from the internet or receive files as email attachments, you might want to completely stop your PC from blocking your files.

Before doing that My saved copy was v After rebooting is done I renamed the kb installed win32spl. Yes windows does not like this move!!! To make this step work, change security property of win32spl.

Here is one place on the www where you learn how to do this Actually, U don't really have to fiddle with TrustedInstaller's control of the file, you simply want to add control by U, the administrator of the PC. The network shared printer from my new PC is visible and most of kb installation is OK except for that win32spl.

Win10 is at kb update level, it stops complainng and printer sharing can be done. This works OK for me Many thanks for the article None of the above has helped me solved the error 0x cannot connect to network printer.

I have several Windows 10 laptops, all updated to the same level. The others work ok. Same printer server, same network, same KB and same version Win32spl. The strange thing is that all has KB listed as installed, but none of them has it listed as uninstallable.

I have also tried every reg hack proposed on several web sites, but to no avail. I think you have to uninstall kb first, then the the uninstall will show up for Then uninstall it. You may be right Spud I get the feeling that since our configurations are basically all different, what work for U may or may not work for me regarding correcting this printer BS stuff with MS.

Only thing left is that if your problem persists This whole printer bug with MS is soo stupid. I get the feeling that MS doesn't really care about our problems with this. I wish U the best of luck in solving your problem The fix dynamics may be completely different with print servers. Not a member yet? Register Now.
